Arrived at Heathrow a bit ahead of schedule. Great flight, very smooth all the way, excellent company, ‘greased on’ landings and the usual excellent Virgin Atlantic cabin service. My connecting Lufthansa flight is not until 1145, so did a quick trip into Piccadilly for something to do. London is still as grey as I remember it; the people maybe more so.
The Lufthansa flight was actually a bit rough. Gave the impression that they were flying it manually with the work experience kid at the controls. Bus picked us up to take passengers to the terminal. Usual thorough but fast and very friendly border control. Bought a single ticket to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and stepped onto the platform just in time to catch a very packed S-Bahn service into the city.

Booked into the Inter-City Hotel where I had also stayed on my first trip to Germany. Nice unit with a double bed on the top floor. The hotel gives out free city transport passes, so I caught a U-Bahn to Hauptwache and went shopping at Karstadt (a department store). Bought some black Pierre Cardin jeans and a Jack Wolfskin scarf. Did a bit of a city walk for some exercise, sorted a few emails and hit the hay.
